Originally pitched to CBS for a series in 2020, it was canceled just before filming the first episode. Covid. It has now been picked up by Netflix for a 10-episode first season based on Mickey Haller’s second book, The Brass Verdict.

California custom plates allow a maximum of seven letters/numbers, however all of Mickey’s plates have a minimum of eight.. A recovering drug addict with two ex-wives, a daughter, and a passion for cars is thrust into a high-profile case after the death of a friend. This is a practice with more side events than it can handle.
This intriguing premise creates a backdrop full of opportunity for a number of legal actions
The show takes this, adds a strong cast, well-crafted and delivered dialogue, and an interesting plot, and runs with it at a good pace. Some of the cinematographic choices are jarring, especially the zoom shots and some of the orange formats, which usually work as they should. Mickey’s driver Izzy is often used as a plot device, but despite the obviousness, it comes naturally and in keeping with the storytelling.
